Artist: Ailyn Lee
Curator: Colleen Dalusong
Once Again My Autumn Lamp presents new drawings, sculptures, and a short film by Ailyn Lee. The exhibition explores the body and found objects as vessels of memory, vulnerability, and desire. Drawing inspiration from her grandmother’s antique shop and guided by Surrealist automatism, Lee transforms discarded materials and dream imagery into poetic meditations on transformation and resilience.
The exhibition is part of Uncool Gallery’s Solo Show Open Call program, which supports artists through curated solo exhibitions and digital features.
On November 19, 2025, Ailyn Lee activated her installation for Once Again, My Autumn Lamp with a focused live performance inside the gallery. The environment, light, and images created an intimate setting in which themes of memory, ritual, and embodied presence could unfold. Her performance introduced a temporal layer to the work, shaping the atmosphere that remained in the space after the activation.

Ailyn Lee (b. 1994, South Korea) is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice merges drawing, sculpture, and film to explore memory, vulnerability, and transformation. Drawing inspiration from her childhood spent in her grandmother’s antique shop, Lee works with found objects and intuitive mark-making to reveal the emotional life embedded in material things. Her installations and short films unfold like dream sequences, blending ritual, humor, and intimacy to question how objects carry traces of human desire and time.
Lee earned her BFA and MFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York. Her work has been exhibited at A.I.R. Gallery, HERE Arts Center, the Wassaic Project, and Visionary Projects, among others. She has been awarded residencies at ISCP, the Wassaic Project, Kunstraum, and the Vermont Studio Center. Her practice has been featured in Artconnect, Art Seen Magazine, Suboart Magazine, and Artsin Square.
Each season, one solo show and nine featured artists are presented as part of our ongoing commitment to emerging and critically engaged practices.
